Stats, Followers, whuh?
So I'm getting back into drawing for the first time since finishing the SMFA Post-Bacc Cert Program. I just finished this website ...which I will include in a later post... but I figured this is a more transparent way of documenting what I'm up to anyway.
Here's some of my most recent series:
Form I, 2010, graphite on paper
Form II, 2010, graphite on paper
Form III, 2010, graphite on paper
Form VII, 2010, graphite on paper
Form V, 2010, graphite on paper
Form VIII, 2010, graphite on paper
Form VI, 2010, graphite on paper
There are more. They range between 4"x 5" to 6"x 8", give or take. I like keeping them small so that 1) I care about the craftsmanship and don't get impatient (I have a problem with this :) ) and 2) because I like feeling like a tinkerer. I see each of these as a little creature I'm creating, something with a tiny gyroscopic life force that I set into motion. It began as noodling around with the pencil as I like to do, reproducing textures. I noticed I had a penchant for spending time and attention on intricate organic materials. Patterns not so much, but something rich, dense, and latently living.
More later...
